The Music of England

When Handel arrived in England he was shortly followed, as it were, by George the First who came to the English throne, a Hanoverian king and Handel did everything he could to ingratiate himself with the new monarch. We’re featuring one of the suites from the “Water Music” played by the Australian Chamber Orchestra conducted by Richard Tognetti. The next composer was one of that group of English composers who had rediscovered their own musical language and who used it extensively.
