The opening sequence is utterly memorable. This is weird and quite unique melodrama about middle class hypocrisy. Constance Towers is perfectly adroit at the saint, sinner, prostitute, angel at the core of this redemption dichotomy story. Noir, crazy and humane all at the same time.
